Memory quilts and blankets

Memory quilts and blankets have a long history. They have been created since the mid 1800’s to preserve memories and celebrate important moments and people in our lives. Whether it be the life of a loved one, family history, a special event such as a wedding or anniversary or special places and accomplishments.
The fabrics used can be cut from anything that holds a memory including shirts, dresses, T shirts, ties, baby clothes or even fishing gear and uniforms. And can have photos, pictures, messages or signatures added to them. Each piece is totally unique to you telling your own story.
The blanket I’ve just finished is in memory of my amazing dad. It was created using his favourite shirts all of which have a special story and place in our hearts and is backed with a snuggly fleece blanket so mum can wrap it around her. ❤️
